Welcome to the SAFFA STUNT AWARDS !

SAFFA statuettes are bestowed upon individuals recognized by SAFFA STUNT AWARDS members for exceptional achievements in each category. While anyone can submit nominations to acknowledge remarkable stunt work, only SAFFA Stunt Awards members participate in the voting process. To join, visit the membership page where qualified industry professionals can enroll for an annual fee.

THE SAFFA STUNT AWARDS IS DESIGNED TO HONOUR STUNT PERFORMANCES IN ELIGIBLE FEATURE FILMS,COMMERCIALS AND DOCUMENTARIES AS DESCRIBED BY THE CRITERIA APPEARING BELOW. ELIGIBILITY RULES
THE EXHIBITION OF FILMS, DOCUMENTARIES AND COMMERCIALS MUST HAVE OCCURRED BETWEEN JUNE, 2020 AND JULY, 2024. PREVIEWS ARE EXCLUDED.
A FILM FROM ANOTHER COUNTRY OTHER THAN SOUTH AFRICA IS ELIGIBLE IN ALL CATEGORIES IF IT MEETS ALL OTHER ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS.
THE SAFFA STUNT AWARDS ORGANISATION HAS THE RIGHT TO MAKE THE FINAL DETERMINATION IN ALL QUESTIONS OF ELIGIBILITY.
CATEGORIES
BEST STUNT COORDINATOR/2ND UNIT DIRECTOR
This award goes to the Stunt Coordinator and/or 2nd Unit Director for the best stunt coordination throughout an entire motion picture of any genre.

BEST FIGHT CHOREOGRAPHY
This award is for the best fight design. Fights may be with or without weapons and include street fighting, boxing, wrestling and martial arts. This award will be given to the fight choreographer.

BEST fight performance
This award is for fights with or without weapons. Stunts in this category include street fighting, boxing, wrestling and martial arts. This award will be given to the principle stunt performer, whose work is featured on screen in the final released version of the film.

BEST VEHICLE ACTION
This award is for driving work involving vehicles of any type including, but not limited to cars, vans, trucks, buses, heavy equipment, motorcycles and scooters. It also includes stunts performed in, on, under or otherwise engaged with vehicles of any type. Eligible stunts in this category include but are not limited to crashes, chases, turnovers, ramp jumps, cannons, getting hit by, bailing from, leaping onto and dragging from a vehicle. This award will be given to the principle stunt performer and/or the principle stunt driver where appropriate.

BEST FEMALE PERFORMER
This award is for the best overall stunt performed by a female in a motion picture or commercial of any genre. Stunts in all film categories are eligible as long as they fit eligibility criteria and may have been nominated in another category.

BEST MALE PERFORMER
This award is for the best overall stunt performed by a male in a motion picture or commercial of any genre. Stunts in all film categories are eligible as long as they fit eligibility criteria and may have been nominated in another category.

BEST STUNT RIGGING
This award is for the technical rigging of a stunt. Rigging may include descenders, ratchets, and other rigging equipment. This award will be given to the key rigger.
​
BEST SPECIALTY STUNT
This award is for stunt work not encompassed by the other categories. It includes but is not limited to fire work, water work, work in a motorized aircraft of any kind and specialized work with bicycles, skateboards, snow skis, roller blades and other roller sports, and may also include stunts such as water skiing, parachuting, paragliding and hang gliding. This award will be given to the stunt performer.

HARDEST HIT
This award is intended for the stunt performer taking the hit. Stunts in this category include but are not limited to being hit by, thrown into or landing on an object that is either staged or practical.

BEST ACTION CAMERA
This award is for best action camera work in a film, commercial or documentary. This award willl be given to the camera operator of the shot.
​
BEST ACTION SHORT
The award will be given to the most popular short action film. This category aims to inspire individuals to craft their own action-packed narratives and stories. It also promotes personal development and growth, offering a fantastic opportunity for learning and self-improvement. We aim to nurture the next generation of filmmakers.

STUNT STAR TO WATCH
This award is intended to recognise an up-and-coming or emerging stunt performers who show exceptional promise and potential. This award highlights individuals who may not yet have an extensive body of work but have demonstrated significant talent, skill, and potential in their performances. The award is to encourage and support new and current talent in the stunt performing industry. Applicants can choose to submit rehearsal videos, training clips, or samples showcasing their talents and skills. This opportunity extends to performers who have not yet accumulated sufficient on-set stunt experience to qualify for other award categories.

BEST / WORST WIG
Lights, camera and hair-raising action! Share your most memorable looks from set. Whether they’ve made you feel like a million bucks or like you were wearing a spaghetti floor mop that was glued to your head with an industrial glue. This category celebrates those weird and wonderful moments.

BEST / FUNNIEST GAG REEL
Get ready to LOL with the funniest blooper reel!
Have you ever had a reaction so wrong it was right? Or maybe your breakaway didn't break. Don't keep those moments of burning embarrassment to yourself! Share your hilarious mishaps with the community and let the laughter begin.
TICKETING POLICY
Members are encouraged to participate in the voting process for 2 complimentary general admission tickets.
Non MEMBERS are able to PURCHASE TICKETS.
Tickets are non-transferrable and non-refundable. An ID card will be required to pick up all tickets.
All active members MUST have their membership number or membership card in order to secure event passes. If you do not know your membership number, please contact the office at: INFO@SAFFASTUNTAWARDS.CO.ZA

Active Members who have voted: Must provide their membership number and voting confirmation to receive 2 GENERAL ADMISSION tickets.
Active Members who have not voted: Must provide their membership number and WILL NEED TO PURCHASE A TICKET TO ATTEND THE AWARD CEREMONY.
Active Members who would like more than 2 TICKETS can access additional tickets if seats are still available 2 weeks before the show.

Ticket availability will be evaluated for each show per year due to the size of the venue. In the event that a member, who received a ticket through voting, becomes unable to attend, the ticket will be returned to the pool for another member's use. It is prohibited to sell, trade, or gift tickets to other members or invited guests.
​
Tickets are limited according to venue space and priority is given to SAFFA members & sponsors. Should there be seats available 2 weeks prior to the event, tickets will be made available for sale to the public.
MEMBERSHIPS
To become a member of the SAFFA Stunt Awards, follow the outlined steps to receive your official membership number and access to the exclusive members-only website page where members can submit their work & nominate others. All SAFFA members will have voting rights and eligibility for awards. Nominees and winners must be SAFFA Stunt Award members.
Membership applications are accepted year-round but need to be reviewed and approved by the SAFFA Stunt Awards board members. Reviews happen once a year during a specific period set by the board. Applications received after the deadline are considered for the next year.
The SAFFA Stunt Awards reserves the right to review any member applications if eligibility questions arise.
Please note that the deadline for member registration is 12 midnight on the specified date.
REGISTRATION PROCEDURES
Membership application forms can be found online at www.saffastuntawards.com. Incomplete forms will not be accepted. All information provided belongs to the SAFFA Stunt Awards and will not be shared with any other entity. For further information, please refer to our Privacy Statement in the Legal Details section of the Rules and Procedures document.
SUBMISSIONS
To submit performances for award consideration, fill out an Awards Submission Form and provide necessary verification as per SAFFA Stunt Awards requirements. There's no restriction on the number of eligible entries you can submit. Please familiarise yourself with the Submission Rules below and proceed with entering your performances according to the Submission Procedures.
NOTE: SUBMITTED FILMS MUST HAVE BEEN RELEASED BETWEEN THE PERIOD OF JUNE 2020, – JULY 31, 2024.

Multiple submissions may be made in each category, provided they fulfill all eligibility requirements. A separate Submission Form must be used for each entry. Only one submission is required for each stunt/category for the stunt to be considered.

Only performances that appear in eligible films may be submitted. Please review the “Film Eligibility Rules” before completing your Submission Form.

Submissions may be made on behalf of a stunt performer by that performer’s agent, stunt association, stunt coordinator, studio or anyone else who would like to see that particular stunt be considered for the Saffa Stunt Awards Ceremony.

Individual performances may be submitted or the awards competition may be entered as a group based on an ensemble performance of a stunt.

In the event of an ensemble entry, only one (1) Submission Form is to be used, however, each performer involved in the ensemble performance must be listed on the form.

Entries must be made on the official Submission Form or via the website. Photocopies of Entry Forms may be used. No substitutions will be accepted.

Submission Forms must be fully completed and must be completed in English. Submissions forms must be filled out in their entirety.

Incomplete submissions forms will not be considered eligible.

Submission verification as requested by THE SAFFA STUNT AWARDS must be supplied.

The deadline for submitting Award Entry Forms is 30 November 2025.

Correct award entry form information is the responsibility of the entrant. The SAFFA STUNT AWARDS are not responsible for incorrect ballot listings that are the result of incorrect information on entry forms.

Stunt performances that have been digitally enhanced or otherwise altered in post production do not qualify for award consideration. Post production alterations made to visually remove stunt apparatus such as cables, wires, rings, ramps, cages, and the like are acceptable. The SAFFA STUNT AWARDS will make all final decisions regarding digital enhancement.

Stunt Coordinators will be required to identify via their Submissions Form all digitally enhanced and/or altered sequences in order to be eligible in the Stunt Coordinator award categories. The SAFFA STUNT AWARDS will make all final decisions regarding digital enhancement.

By submitting a performance for consideration, the performer grants the SAFFA Stunt Awards organisation the irrevocable right to use his or her name, likeness, performance, attributes, voice and biography in connection with the awards program and related activities and the broadcast and dissemination of the program in all media now known or hereafter devised, throughout the universe, in perpetuity, without payment or further consideration.

Performers agree to make all reasonable efforts to assist in securing all required consents and releases relevant to securing clips for use in the live awards show and the awards show broadcast.

The SAFFA STUNT AWARDS has final authority over all issues relating to submissions eligibility and final category placement of submissions in the final nomination process.

Internationally created films may be submitted in ALL categories as long as they meet the eligible film criteria.
nominations
All submissions will undergo review and verification by the Saffa Stunt Awards for potential nomination at the 2025 Saffa Stunt Awards. Submissions will be categorized into one of fourteen categories. For detailed information on the categories, refer to the Category section in the Rules and Regulations. The top five submissions in each category will be included on the official ballot of the Saffa Stunt Awards.
NOMINATION PROCESS

Only completed and eligible submission forms received before the deadline of 30 November 2024 will be reviewed for the nomination process.

All submissions will be verified and reviewed by the SAFFA Stunt Awards directors & third party voting team.

If a submission is not determined eligible it will not be considered for a position on the voting ballot. A maximum of five (05) nominations will be considered for each nominated category.

Nominees will receive notification of their nomination from the SAFFA STUNT AWARDS. An individual or all members of a nominated group have the option to retract their submission. If individual members withdraw, the nomination will still be valid as long as at least one member remains. The deadline for withdrawing a nomination is 30 November 2025.

Once the final nomination list has been determined, the voting ballot will be uploaded to the website and the voting period will begin.
VOTING
ONLY SAFFA STUNT MEMBERS ARE ELIGIBLE TO VOTE FOR THE AWARDS.
THE SAFFA STUNT AWARDS DIRECTORS WILL SCREEN ALL ELIGIBLE SUBMITTED ENTRIES FOR AUTHENTICITY AND CONFIRM THE STUNT PROFESSIONALS TITLE AND ROLE. VOTING WILL BE DONE ONLINE. ALL VOTING MUST BE RECEIVED PRIOR TO 12 MIDNIGHT SAST ON THE VOTING DEADLINE. BALLOTS RECEIVED AFTER THIS DEADLINE WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED ELIGIBLE. INCOMPLETE BALLOTS WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED ELIGIBLE.
MEMBERS WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO SUBMIT ONE VOTE IN EACH CATEGORY. ONLY CURRENT MEMBERS ARE ELIGIBLE TO RECEIVE AN AWARD. BELOW PLEASE FIND THE COMPLETE VOTING RULES AND REGULATIONS:
VOTING RULES:
TO FURTHER ENSURE FAIRNESS AND TRANSPARENCY OF THE AWARDS, VOTING WILL BE HANDLED BY A THIRD PARTY AND NOT THE DIRECTORS.

ALL VOTES WILL BE RECEIVED AND TALLIED BY AN AUTOMATED COMPUTER PROGRAM.
​
ALL ELIGIBLE ENTRIES WILL BE PLACED ON A SINGLE BALLOT, WHICH SHALL CONTAIN THE NAME OF THE FILM, THE STUNT PERFORMED AND A DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE STUNT ALONG WITH A VIDEO.
VOTERS WILL REVIEW ALL NOMINATED ENTRIES AND WILL SELECT THEIR TOP CHOICE IN EACH CATEGORY.
MEMBERS MAY ONLY VOTE ONCE DURING AN AWARDS YEAR.
IN THE EVENT OF THREE OR LESS ENTRIES IN A SINGLE CATEGORY, THE SAFFA STUNT AWARDS WILL REVIEW THE ENTRIES AND HAVE THE OPTION OF DECIDING IF THE CATEGORY WILL APPEAR ON THE BALLOT AND/OR IF THE AWARD IN THAT CATEGORY SHOULD BE DEFERRED FOR THE YEAR.
THE BALLOT WILL CONTAIN A WRITTEN DESCRIPTION OF EACH STUNT BEING NOMINATED.
VOTING WILL CLOSE AT 12 MIDNIGHT, ON 3 JANUARY 2025. ALL VOTES RECEIVED AFTER THIS TIME PERIOD WILL BE CONSIDERED INELIGIBLE.

ALL DISPUTES OR CONFLICTS REGARDING THE BALLOT OR TABULATION PROCESS WILL BE ADDRESSED AND HANDLED DIRECTLY BY THE AUDITOR.
SHOULD THERE BE A TIE FOR 1ST PLACE, AWARDS WILL BE GIVEN FOR ALL PERFORMANCES TIED.
IN THE EVENT THAT AN ENTRY APPEARING ON THE BALLOT IS WITHDRAWN OR OTHERWISE DEEMED INELIGIBLE, IT WILL BE REPLACED BY THE PERFORMANCE THAT RECEIVED THE NEXT HIGHEST NUMBER OF VOTES.
MEMBER BALLOTS ARE CONFIDENTIAL.
BALLOTS WILL BE TABULATED AND ANNOUNCED DURING THE SAFFA STUNT AWARDS.

ONLY REGISTERED MEMBERS OF THE SAFFA STUNT AWARDS MAY VOTE.
IN ORDER TO VOTE ONLINE MEMBERS MUST HAVE THEIR USERNAME AND PASSWORD.
VOTERS GO TO WWW.SAFFASTUNTAWARDS.CO.ZA AND ENTER THEIR USERNAME AND PASSWORD IN THE VOTING AREA.
PROMPTS WILL LEAD VOTERS TO THE BALLOT PAGE.
ONCE ON THE BALLOT PAGE, THE OFFICIAL BALLOT WILL APPEAR. VOTERS MUST FOLLOW THE STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS TO COMPLETE THE BALLOT.
VOTES MUST BE CONDUCTED IN ONE AREA AT A TIME. VOTERS WILL BE GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITY TO REVIEW THEIR BALLOTS PRIOR TO SUBMISSION. ONCE THE BALLOT HAS BEEN SUBMITTED, NO CHANGES WILL BE MADE NOR WILL THE VOTER HAVE ACCESS TO HIS/HER BALLOT.
ALL ONLINE VOTES ARE CONFIDENTIAL.
VOTES MUST BE RECEIVED PRIOR TO 12 MIDNIGHT, ON THE LAST DAY OF THE VOTING PERIOD. ANY BALLOTS RECEIVED AFTER THIS TIME WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED ELIGIBLE.

LEGAL DETAILS
CONDITIONS, RIGHTS AND RELEASES
SAFFA STUNT AWARDS WINNERS WILL NEED TO AGREE UPON THE FOLLOWING:

Confirms the receipt of the copyrighted and trademarked statuette.

Commits to not selling or transferring ownership of the statuette.

Consents to the unrestricted use of their name, likeness, voice, performance, attributes, and biography in the awards night event and subsequent broadcast worldwide, indefinitely, without additional compensation.
PROTECTIONS
The SAFFA Stunt Award statuette is a prestigious accolade that belongs to the SAFFA Stunt Awards organisation. All rights to the statuette are reserved by the SAFFA Stunt Awards NPC, and it is not allowed to be reproduced or used for commercial purposes without explicit permission. The possession of the statuette is intended solely for the benefit of the recipient and their heirs or successors. In the event that the recipient or their heir wishes to sell or dispose of the SAFFA Stunt Awards statuette, they are required to return it to the SAFFA Stunt Awards NPC, which will then keep it in storage as a tribute to the original recipient.
It is important to respect the rules and guidelines set forth by the SAFFA Stunt Awards organization regarding the statuette. By upholding these regulations, the integrity and value of the award are maintained, ensuring that it continues to symbolize excellence in the field of stunts. Any actions concerning the statuette should be carried out with the understanding that it is a special recognition meant to honor the achievements of the recipient, and should be treated with the utmost care and reverence. The SAFFA Stunt Awards NPC's dedication to preserving the legacy of the award reflects their commitment to honouring those who have demonstrated outstanding skill and talent in the realm of stunts.
